For intermediate to advanced writers of stage and screen, ages 18+
The Lighthouse’s Scenes & Screens event (in early August) is a fun, skill-and-community-developing production featuring live performances and screenings of original, God-honoring short plays and films.
We are building a “braintrust” — a group of writers, each bringing their own script, and providing constructive feedback on others’ stories — to develop the necessary scripts before rehearsals begin in July.
The Writers Braintrust will meet in-person and online through the month of June, sharpening one another's original short scripts through a few drafts.
*If you are a songwriter, we may have room for one original musical-theatre-style song.
REQUIREMENTS
- You will need a well-developed idea (or a script) for a roughly 14-minute scene/short play or 5-minute short film.
- You will need, at minimum, a detailed outline and first three pages of your script before being considered for the Braintrust. Additionally, you will need a complete script by the first meeting in early June. So expect to write quickly from the latter part of May through June.
- Subject matter, language, and visuals should be appropriate for an all-ages audience (rated G).
- Though your story need not directly reference or parallel Scripture, its themes and takeaways should be consistent with a biblical worldview.
- Should be producible on a shoestring budget. :)
- If in doubt, reach out! We’d be happy to help clarify.
- Gather your availability for the month of June. In the Interest Form, you will need to provide all of your known conflicts for weeknights and weekends.
- Sign up via the Interest Form link on this page by May 31st.
