Classes at The Lighthouse Arts

The Lighthouse Arts exists to cultivate creativity, character, and community through excellent arts education. Our classes are designed to help students of all ages grow in skill and confidence while being rooted in purpose, encouragement, and a Christ-centered worldview. Whether stepping onstage for the first time or sharpening existing gifts, students will be trained, challenged, and supported by experienced instructors who value both artistry and heart.

Tuition

  • 60-Minute Classes: $100 per student (8-week semester)
  • 75-Minute Classes: $125 per student (8-week semester)

Multiple-Registration Discount: Receive 10% off tuition for each additional household class registration (2nd registration and beyond).

Class Offerings

KIDS CLASSES

Kids Acting (5:30-6:30)

Grades 2–5
Instructor: Esther Stoehr

Perfect for young performers who are ready to step into the spotlight! Students will build confidence while learning the fundamentals of theatre through fun acting games, creative storytelling, character work, movement, voice, and stage presence. Along the way, they'll strengthen communication skills, make new friends, and discover the joy of bringing stories to life on stage.

Kids Hip-Hop (6:45-7:45)

Grades 2–5
Instructor: Esther Stoehr

High-energy and full of fun! Young dancers will learn age-appropriate hip-hop technique, rhythm, musicality, and choreography while building confidence and coordination. This class emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and positive performance skills in an encouraging atmosphere.

TEEN CLASSES

Teen Scriptwriting (5:30-6:30)

Grades 6–12
Instructor: Julianne Rhodes

Explore the art of storytelling through world-building, character creation, and plot development. Students will collaborate to imagine an original story while learning the fundamentals of scriptwriting through creative activities, brainstorming, and discussion. The semester concludes with a reader's theatre-style presentation of the original script inspired by the class's ideas.

Teen Acting for Film (6:45-8:00)

Grades 6–12
Instructor: J. Scott Gage

Discover the unique craft of acting for the camera. Students will learn on-camera technique, audition skills, script analysis, emotional authenticity, and how film acting differs from stage performance. Through scene work and filmed exercises, actors will gain valuable experience and confidence in front of the camera.

Teen Hip-Hop & Musical Theatre Dance (6:45-8:00)

Grades 6-12

Instructor: Kevin Wold Jr.

This high-energy class combines hip-hop style and musical theatre storytelling. Teens will build coordination, musicality, confidence, and stage presence while learning choreography from both styles.

Teen Acting & Improvisation (8:15-9:30)

Grades 6–12
Instructor: Megan Adams

Build confidence, creativity, and versatility as a performer through acting and improvisation! Students will explore character development, scene work, storytelling, ensemble collaboration, and the fundamentals of improvisation through engaging exercises, theatre games, and scripted scenes. Whether you're new to acting or looking to sharpen your skills, this class provides a fun, supportive environment to grow as a confident performer while thinking quickly, making bold choices, and connecting authentically with others.

ADULT CLASSES (16 +)

Adult Beginning Hip-Hop (5:30-6:30)

Ages 16+
Instructor: Kevin Wold Jr.

Whether you've never danced before or are returning after years away, this class is the perfect place to start. Learn foundational hip-hop grooves, rhythm, coordination, and beginner choreography in a welcoming, encouraging environment. Come ready to move, have fun, and build confidence one step at a time.

Adult Acting for Musical Theatre (6:45-8:00)

Ages 16+
Instructors: Erik Snodgrass & Megan Adams

Great musical theatre performances are about more than singing—they're about believable storytelling. This class focuses on acting through song, character development, scene work, audition preparation, and connecting emotionally with music. Whether you're new to musical theatre or looking to sharpen your performance skills, you'll grow as a confident and authentic storyteller.

Adult Acting for Film (8:15-9:30)

Explore the art of authentic on-camera performance. Students will work on scene study, audition technique, script analysis, camera awareness, and emotional truth while receiving individualized coaching through recorded exercises. Ideal for actors interested in film, television, commercials, or simply strengthening their acting craft.

Adult Musical Theatre Dance Styles (8:15-9:30)

Ages 16+

Instructor: Brooke Miller

Travel through the world of Broadway dance! This class explores a variety of musical theatre styles inspired by classic and contemporary productions while building technique, performance quality, storytelling through movement, and stage confidence. Each session introduces choreography that helps dancers become versatile performers.

Adult Screenwriting (8:15-9:30)

Ages 16+
Instructor: Erik Snodgrass

Bring your ideas to the screen by learning the fundamentals of writing for film and television. Students will explore story structure, screenplay formatting, character development, dialogue, pacing, and visual storytelling while developing original scenes and scripts. Whether you're writing your first screenplay or refining an existing idea, this collaborative workshop will help you grow as a storyteller and gain confidence in the screenwriting process.
